It is completed over in two years, at the end of which the students are externally assessed. Students must take six courses: three standard level ones, and three high level ones.<\/p>\n<p>Each university requires different courses and levels depending on the degree one wants to study. For example, a student who wishes to study Medicine will need to study Biology at a High Level. And a student wishing to study Economics will be more prepared if they have studied Business and Mathematics at a Higher level, but they will only need to study Literature at a Standard Level.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; Each area has different subject options.<\/p>\n<p>Students choose one course from each of the six areas. The only exception are the subjects in the \u201cArts\u201d area. That \u201cArts\u201d course can be substituted with a course from any of the other five areas of knowledge. They study Literature and they can combine its learning with those of Language and Performance. <span>You can find<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibo.org\/programmes\/diploma-programme\/curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">more information<\/a> <span>in the official IB Program website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This are contains three courses:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Language A: Literature:<\/strong> available with a list of authors and publications in 55 different languages. Upon special request, it is offered in other languages as long as there is a minimum of literature written in those languages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Language A: Language and Literature:<\/strong> Available in 16 different languages<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Literature and Performance (interdisciplinary subject):<\/strong> Offered in English and, on special request, in Spanish and French.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Language acquisition&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Students learn a language to be able to use it in multiple context and with different aims. During the course, learners try to understand a culture through its language.<\/p>\n<p>The IB Program offers the<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibo.org\/programmes\/diploma-programme\/curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">study of Modern and Classical Languages.<\/a><span> <\/span>Students can choose between three different courses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Modern Languages<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><strong>Language ab initio:<\/strong> only offered to students with limited or none previous knowledge of a language. It is only available at the Standard Level (SL).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><strong>Language B:<\/strong> for those who have some prior knowledge of the language.
